Meet Newcastle's New Lord Mayor and Deputy Lord Mayor
Councillor Karen Robinson and Councillor Veronica Dunn Take on Civic Roles
Newcastle City Council has welcomed a new Lord Mayor and Deputy Lord Mayor. Councillor Karen Robinson and Councillor Veronica Dunn will serve in the civic roles for the next year.
Councillor Robinson, who represents the Dene and South Gosforth ward, was born in Walker and educated at Convent of the Sacred Heart. She was first elected to Newcastle City Council in 2004.
Councillor Dunn, who represents the West End ward, was born in Newcastle and educated at St Joseph's RC School. She was first elected to Newcastle City Council in 2011.
The new Lord Mayor and Deputy Lord Mayor will be responsible for representing the city at civic events and functions. They will also work to promote the city and its interests. "I am honoured to be appointed as Lord Mayor of Newcastle," said Councillor Robinson. "I look forward to working with Councillor Dunn and the rest of the council to make a positive difference to the city." "I am delighted to be appointed as Deputy Lord Mayor of Newcastle," said Councillor Dunn. "I look forward to supporting the Lord Mayor and working with the council to make Newcastle an even better place to live, work and visit."
