Wahine Volleyball Opens 2024 Season This Weekend

A New Era Begins for UH Women's Volleyball

The University of Hawaiʻi women's volleyball team is set to open its 2024 season this weekend at the Stan Sheriff Center. The Wahine will host the Rainbow Wahine Classic, a four-team tournament that also includes Cal State Fullerton, UC Davis, and Portland.

A New Look for the Wahine

The Wahine will feature a new look this season, with a roster that includes 10 newcomers. Head coach Robyn Ah Mow has brought in a talented group of recruits, including four-star outside hitter Talia Edmonds and three-star middle blocker Emily Maglio.

In addition to the newcomers, the Wahine will also welcome back a number of key players from last season's team, including All-American setter Norene Iosia and All-Big West outside hitter McKenna Granato. Iosia is the NCAA's active leader in assists per set, while Granato is one of the most dynamic hitters in the country.

High Expectations for the Wahine

The Wahine have high expectations for the 2024 season. They are coming off a 28-4 season in which they won the Big West Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament semifinals. Ah Mow believes that this year's team has the potential to be even better.

"We have a lot of talent on this team," Ah Mow said. "We have a good mix of experience and youth, and I think we can be a very successful team."

Schedule and Tickets

The Wahine will open the 2024 season on Friday, August 30, against Cal State Fullerton. The tournament will continue on Saturday, August 31, and Sunday, September 1. Tickets for the Rainbow Wahine Classic are available online or at the Stan Sheriff Center box office.
